Locust Valley, Pennsylvania

Locust Valley, Pennsylvania is a village located in the southeastern corner of Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, USA at the southern end〔http://usgwarchives.org/maps/pa/county/lehigh/usgs/uppersau.jpg〕 of Upper Saucon Township. The main crossroad is the intersection of Locust Valley Road and Blue Church Road South. This area is bordered by Springfield Township and Milford Township in Bucks County, PA along with Lower Milford Township in Lehigh County. The present mailing address is Coopersburg, PA, 18036.
== History ==
The village developed around an iron mill (P. Weaver Foundry〔Aschbach, G. A. ''Map of Lehigh County''. (1862). http://www.loc.gov/resource/g3823l.la000766/〕) that is located near the headwaters of Laurel Run (South Branch of the Saucon Creek〔http://sauconcreekwatershed.org/images/maps/Assessment_Reaches.pdf〕). Laurel Run〔http://www.fish.state.pa.us/fishpub/summary/troutregs_se.htm〕 is a regulated trout stream in Pennsylvania. The mill race can still be seen as part of (Locust Valley Golf Course ).
The Locust Valley name came from the locust trees planted on the mill owner's property. The Locust Valley golf course still contains numerous locust trees.
The village was once home to a post office, store (W. Trumbaur Store〔), hotel,〔Hauser, James J. ''A history of Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, from the earliest settlements to the present time, including much valuable information for the use of schools, families, libraries''. The one-room schoolhouse, built in 1880,〔http://www.lehighcounty.org/Departments/Assessment/SearchRecords〕 is still in existence as a residential home at the intersection of Blue Church Rd S and Beverly Hills Rd. This school district was later incorporated into the Southern Lehigh School District.
